Cosmetology

The Schilling-Douglas School of Hair Design, LLC Cosmetology Program is designed to actively engage all learners and learning styles. The student’s progression begins in a formal classroom setting which is focused on building the students fundamental knowledge of the theoretical and practical aspects of the services instructed.  This is done through interactive lectures, live demonstrations and hands on manikin practice. The student’s progression continues by incorporating participation in the school’s “student salon”, once the student meets the programs requirements for promotion. The student salon is a practical classroom fashioned after an actual salon environment. Students participating in this area transfer the knowledge from classroom instruction to real life experience. Our student salon is open to the general public and all services are performed by students under the supervision of licensed instructors. The final stage of the student’s progression places increased emphasis on the student’s participation and performance in the student salon as well as incorporating a focus on the student’s soft skills, preparation for employment and completion of the Delaware Cosmetology Licensing Examination.
